Join me for the journey. This is an invitation to witness not only my work, but to engage with your own deep-seated creativity and then witness to that process, as well.
Artists do not create in a vacuum, even though we often work in solitude. Rather, we are all connected to one another and to everything in the universe. My art is inspired by my understanding of why, where, and who I am- by my passions, by my fears, by the beauty and pain all around me, and by my dreams -- which are a part of what Carl Jung called the "collective unconscious." I have come to realize that no matter what my days look like, I am never completely alone.
When I began to express my creativity in visual ways around the time I turned 50, I had a very limited understanding of creativity. I experienced it as a finite concept which some people possessed, and some people did not. When I began, just those few years ago, I was afraid that I was one without creativity -- but I still felt led to explore the visual arts. Not knowing exactly why, I forged ahead, and very rapidly came to a place where I began to understand that creativity is not a result, a standard to bear, a status, a possession of the elite few. Rather, creativity is the light of life that exists in every single aspect of creation.
So join me on my journey -- but know that it is your journey, as well. Enjoy my artwork, read my blog musings, comment and respond as you feel led, always keeping the knowledge of that collective spark high in your mind. If you feel that you are one without creativity, my hope for you is that you will someday experience the head-knowledge of the collective spark as heart- and gut-knowledge, and then you will be an artist, too. If you already claim the word "artist" for yourself, my hope is that you will continue to deepen and expand your understanding of the joy of creation -- of creativity -- until you glow with the fire of union and release.
You can visit my galleries, and leave feedback -- I'd love to know what you think, what you feel when you look at my work.
Here's to the adventure of journeying together.
Peace,
Laura
